Bio

Born: Cleveland, OH
Lives and Works: Austin, TX

Marilyn Fenn started painting in her crib and hasn't stopped since. She earned a degree in painting from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and has explored a variety of subject matter ranging from representational landscapes and still lifes to vibrant abstractions -- and many points in between. Their common thread is an unerring sense of color, and a constant celebration of how paint inhabits a surface.

Lately she has been using encaustic, a heated wax-based painting medium, to create near-abstract imagery based on energetic phenomena such as tornadoes, hurricanes and atomic explosions. She continues exploring total abstraction in both encaustic and oils.

Marilyn's work has been exhibited in Chicago and Texas and can often be seen at various shows in the Austin area, You can visit her studio during the East Austin Studio Tour or by appointment.
