The idea behind this series is similar to the idea of ecological succession, which is a sequential process in which there is a gradual supplanting of one community of life forms by another, each stage building upon the previous stage.
My plan for this series is for the final work to be a large painting made up of many 12"x12" panels. The process of creating each new work evolves from the previous work. The first panel is the seed for the whole series, with each new panel unfolding from an edge of the previous panel, yet with the freedom for each new panel to go in a slightly different direction than the one before.
